Dark Morning

I took my cat for a walk this morning. It was crisp, but not cold. Definitely dark. It's so nice being the only two things up and about. Yang's been in lock down for almost a week - got in a fight, cut his paw. (anything to do with the bugger from my last blog?) Listening to him you'd think there was nothing wrong. He hates not being free. I was extremely impressed with how well he did on his leash. I think he knows that if he tests my patience to much I will drag him along. But he usually just needs a minute before trotting back and leading the way again. He tried to go for a couple rodents at the end, but no luck with mom around.

I missed my gym class this morning. It was worth it. Precious time with the ones we love is always worth it.

Poke It With a Stick

This rodent was first spotted under my dad's van. When mom and I opened the door for better a look, it hurried up into the engine. After pounding on the hood and honking the horn, we opened up the hood. And there it was. We have no idea what it is. It has a tail like a rat, but the face of a marmot. It's pretty good sized (small cat) for a gopher.

We eventully tried to harrass it out from the engine by poking it with a stick. I moved further into the engine, but did not leave. The cats spent a bit of time hanging out and investigating. By late afternoon we didn't know what had happened to it, it wasn't visible through the engine.

Idaho Desert

Out for an afternoon stroll in the Idaho desert. The wind is howling over the flats, but in the canyon, surrounded by sharp cliffs, the air is still and warm. The clouds are an ever changing white on a light blue backdrop. The sky in Idaho always seems bigger than the landscape, as if they are competing for your attention.
